The Alipore Zoo was setup around 1875, and is one of the most popular attractions for people of Kolkata. Alipore is one of the largest zoo's in the state of West Bengal, which explains the large number of people who frequent it's grounds. The Zoo is most popular amongst visitors during the the end of the year hoildays. Attendance is at a maximum towards the end of December and the beginning of January.
