The New Age town of Rishikesh on the Ganges River in Uttaranchal is known as the "Yoga Capital of the World." Risikesh hosts the International Yoga Festival in early February. In the foothills of the Himalaya, Rishikesh also attracts trekkers and white-water rafting enthusiasts. The white-water rafting season in Rishikesh runs from mid-September to the end of June.Rishikesh has a railway station with service to and from Haridwar, which is just 24km southwest of Rishikesh. Rishikesh is only about 20km from the Jolly Grant Airport on the road to Dehra Dun.
