Mathura in Uttar Pradesh is believed to be where Krishna was born and lived the early years of his life. Mathura is full of Hindu temples that attract many pilgrims, particularly during Janmastami, the festival surrounding Krishna’s birthday in August and September.
Mathura is just 10km from neighboring Vrindavan, 58km northwest of Agra, and 141km south of Delhi. Trains connect the Mathura Junction train station to Delhi, Agra, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore National Park), and Kota.
