Hawah Mahal in Jaipur India Popularly and aptly known as the Pink City because of its architectural palaces and monuments in pink, Jaipur is one of the most interesting and beautiful cities of India. It was founded in 1727 AD by Sawai Raja Jai Singh and the color pink was used to create an impression of the red sand stone of the Mughal cities. Jaipur is the capital of the colorful state of Rajasthan and is almost 260 kilometers from New Delhi. It is very conveniently connected by road, rail and air from the country’s capital.

Jaipur Attractions and Things To Do

There are many places of tourist interest within the walled city comprising of forts and palaces like the City Palace and the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). The Hawa Mahal was used in the past by the ladies of the court to watch the activities on the streets below without being observed themselves. Also a must see is the Jantar Mantar one of the five observatories built by Sawai Raja Jai Singh. It comprises of a collection of complex astronomical instruments made out of stone. Till this date it provides fairly accurate astronomical calculations and predictions.
Other attractions include the beautiful Ram Niwas Garden located just outside the walled city. It houses the majestic Albert Hall Museum which was opened in 1887 AD, The museum displays a rich collection of paintings, carpets, ivory, stone and metal sculpture among other objects.
Also worth a watch are the Garland Forts comprising of the Amer fort, the Jaigarh Fort and the Nahargarh Fort. These are popularly called so because they are located such that they seem strung together.

When it comes to shopping in Jaipur, it is a paradise. This is one of the few places where the shoppers may actually watch the skilled artisans producing the articles they want to buy.

Sawai Madhopor & Ranthambore wildlife National Park:- From Jaipur, Sawai Madhopor is only 123 Kms. by train and two hours journey. There are numbers of good hotels in Sawai Madhopor and the National park is only 12 kms. away from there.
