Jalandhar India Travel GuideJalandhar is the oldest city of the state of Punjab. It lies between the Beas River and Sutlej River. The name of the city is derived from a myth, about a demon king who lived in water. The city has always been in a part of history, right from the Mahabharata till present day. The city in ancient times was known as the capital of Trigarttas, meaning the land between three rivers. You can start by visiting the Imran Masoulem and Jamma Masjid. It is a marvelously sculptured tomb that is close to eight-hundred years old, with a mosque that is more than four-hundred years old. Devi Talab Mandir is also of religious importance in Jalandhar, and has a water tank that is older than two centuries. Another temple that is worth a mention is the Shiva Mandir, which was built by a Muslim ruler as an apology for dishonoring a Hindu girl. One of the most ancient temples in Punjab also exists in Jalandhar, and is known as Tulsi Mandir. Spread over an area of eleven acres is the theme park known as Wonderland. It’s a great place to travel if you are with kids, though some of the rides can shake adults to the core, too.Jalandhar ExcursionsTwenty-one kilometers from the city is the very famous temple Paanch Mandir. It is actually a collection of temples in one large edifice, and is built with complete architectural supremacy. Another place that is also a tourist attraction is the Moorish Mosque that was built by a French architect. It is a good blend of Islamic-French architecture. Very close to the city is Pushpa Gujral Science City, which is the largest science city of the state and the second largest in India. A whole day can be spend in this seventy-two acres park, which apart from being a fun filled amusement science park also has an artificial lake where boating and other activities can be done.Sixteen kilometers from the city is the Kartarpur Gurudwar, which hold a lot of religious value for the Sikh community. sir, i visted on 7-6-2009 for lunch with my family at 5pm . the quality of food was below average. chapatis were like papars . when you charge a lot then why you are not mantaining the quality of food. i am feeling cheated by rs 1290.

The time i went there, it was so beautiful and attracting...the music program was so nice and specially the way haveli present punjabi style is so amazing. i wish i can go there again when i go to India. THE FOOD WAS SO DELICIOUS......HMMM. No comparison to other.**LOVE YA***
A PLACE OF GENUINENESS AND SINCERITY
MY FAMILY HAD A GREAT TIME THERE ON 2ND MARCH 2009. WE CAME BACK HOME TO DELHI WITH MOUTH STILL TASTING THE FLAVOURS OF THE PLACE. MY CHILD WAS STILL CHERISHING THE FUN SHE HAD THERE IN THE BOUNCER CARS AND TAKING OUT WATER FROM THE WELL. I SUDDENLY FOUND THAT I HAD LEFT MY WALLET WITH MONEY AND CREDIT CARDS IN THAT PLACE. I WAS SURE I WOULD NEVER GET THEM BACK. STILL IN VAIN HOPE I TRIED TO TRACE A TEL. NO. OF THAT PLACE. I GOT A MOBILE NO. ... more |
