A five days round trip to Jamnagar, Dwarka and Somnath Patan by car. Images
Ours is a group of eight friends and we decided to leave in the morning at 7 a.m. for Jamnagar. We reached our hotel in Jamnagar at 12:45p.m. The road was very good so none of us was tired. After having light lunch in the hotel we first went to see "Lakhota Talav" where you can see many birds in water. People were feeding them so we could see them from a close distance. We could see different kinds of ducks, pelicans and flamingoes at a distance. Then we went to see a birds Sanctuary which was 13 kms away. The road was rough and tough for the car but the place was excellent. From a distance, we could see Hundreds of Flamingoes, Pelicans and other birds. We took our time, nearly one and a half hours to enjoy this place. From here we went to Ranjitsagar which is a fresh water reservoir supplying water to Jamnagar city. From this place we could see beautiful Sunset. Then back to the Hotel for a good night rest. The next day, we had specially reserved for going to the "Pirotan Island" to see the corals in the bed of the sea. We had taken a special permission to hire a small motorised boat. We left early in the morning at 6a.m. by this boat. It was high tide time so the sea was really rough and at times we got frightened but after an hour and twenty minutes we stepped out of the boat on Pirotal island. We had to walk 2 kms. on the beach to reach a light house where we had to take wait for 5 hours till the Low tide in the sea receded the water level to the sea bed level. Again we had to walk 2 kms. on the sea bed which was full of water when we had reached the light house. It was a wonderful experience to walk in the sea water, 2 feet deep at some places. The sea bed was very rough and hard and we had to be very careful. It was great to see Corals in the knee deep waters of the sea.Our boat was waiting for us on the other side where the water was a little deeper. This really was a tough experience for us as practically all of us were 60 years and above age.Next day we left for Dwarka, a pilgrimage place for all of us. Our stay at a Gayatri Maa guest house on the Dwarka beach was excellent. We all had nice "Darshan of The Lord Dwarikadhishji"spent an evening on the beach to see Wonderful sunset.Next morning we left for the Somnath temple which is very famous for the tourists. The journey was terrible as the road like it had never been paved before. The temple was fabulous but we were so tired that after seeing the temple for 2 hours, we immediately decided to leave for Ahmedabad, our home town.
Directions:All through out, the road is excellent except for a stretch between Dwarka and Somnath Temple.
