Modhera Sun Temple is divided into three sections, 1. Surya Kund,
2. Sabha Mandap (assembly hall), 3. Guda Mandap.

Before entering to the temple, the pilgrims used to cleanse themselves by the Nirmal waters of the Surya Kund in those days. After offering prayers at different shrines on the steps of the Kund, they entered the Sabha Mandap through an ornamental gate or toran. The arch of the toran is missing now but the beautifully carved pillars are still there. This picture shows the carved pillars or the main entrance to the temple from the Surya Kund.
