On one occasion the astrologers of Mohamad Shah’s court were unsure of a certain planetary position which would be auspicious for the commencement of an expedition, It was imperative that the positions be known accurately. Jai Singh used his immense interest and talent in the field of science and astronomy, and the result was Jantar Mantar.Jai Singh's idea was to create a rebirth of practical astronomy among the Indian masses. However, these ideals remained unfulfilled as the country at that time was in chaos.
