Bahia Temple Images
The building has striking similarities with the Sydney opera house. The temple is the Asian headquarters of the Bahai faith, and is open to all. It looks particularly beautiful at dusk against the twilight and the flood-lights emphasizing its white silhouette. There are two sets of nine petals of the lotus, the number nine represents the highest digit and unity in the Bahia faith. There are also nine lotus pools, placed on an elevated platform. The lotus shaped structure has two layers. The first layer consists of nine white marble-covered petals that point to the skies. The second layes consists of nine petals that hide the portal. The temple, like all Bahai temples has no religious icons, only copies of the Holy Scriptures and wooden pews. The temple is opened in summer between 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., and in winter between 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m, and is closed on Mondays.
